World’s sixth largest car market lags behind in its safety features

July 27th 2016: India, being the sixth largest car market of the world, as per the reports, still witnesses the highest rate of car accidents in the world every day resulting in the loss of lives and severe injuries to the living race. If we look at the numbers, then approximately 1,374 crashes and 400 deaths take place every day in these accidents. One of the major reasons behind this is the lack of proper required safety features in Indian cars which have been declared insufficient and ineffective compared to those of the developed countries.

According to another report in May 2016 the tests conducted by Global NCAP(New Car Assessment Program), showed that in an accident, all the cars would leave the driver with possible life-threatening injuries and also they failed the child safety tests. This makes it clear that the Indian cars lack even the basic safety features like airbags, antilock braking systems (ABS) and electronic stability control (ESC).

In the name of cost cutting, these car manufacturers design these cars without the basic safety features, risking the lives of thousands of people over the country. They are able to do it because there are no strict safety regulations and testing procedures. Four out of five cars failed recently in a safety test conducted according to the NCAP standards.\
