Care for your car

With the onset of the monsoon season like every year, its time for more precautions and extra care for your health and for the automobile freaks, its time to take extra care of their lovely road runners. So, here are some car care tips for our customers that may help you to overcome the monsoon obstacles every year.

The rubber care: Rubber has a tendency to soften when coming in contact with water hence, dealing with this heavy downpour may not be as easy as you think. First of all the car owners need to check the tyres of their beloveds. Make sure that they are in excellent condition. The tread depth should be good enough to avoid skidding over slippery surfaces due to aquaplaning. It should not be less than 2 mm. One should always check the tyre pressure regularly and inflate it to the pressure recommended by the manufacturer.

Wipe away: Wiper blades have a tendency to wear out very fast. The rubber strip becomes useless within a year. So, we recommended a change of those strips every year with the monsoons. Also check the workings of the wipers properly at all the three speeds. Keep the washer bottle full and you can also add a mild detergent which will help keep the windshield glass clean and oil free. And the water escape holes down the wind screen should be checked that the holes are not blocked.

Brake it before you break it: Brakes should not be too tight or too loose and should be kept using, as water will most likely wet their drums, therefore reducing its efficiency. One small tip for drying out brakes is by placing your left foot on the brake pedal and gently moving the throttle in, using your right foot. Carrying out this operation immediately after wading through water will ensure it has not gotten stuck to the brake discs/drums. Brake calipers are the most crucial part of any car and should regularly be cleaned and replaced.

Exterior: Rainwater sometimes has acidic components, which can corrode the outer layer of the car’s paint. You can use various protective UV Treatments that can protect your car’s exteriors. It also helps in cleaning your cars without chipping out the paint. Also try parking your cars in ventilated spaces to avoid contact with much rainwater.

Interiors: It is better to use fabric mats than rubber mats incase the water seeps into the car some way or the other. A vacuum cleaner may help you clean the interiors properly. Also keep the windows open so that no fungus develops inside the car.

Engine and electronics: engine should be working properly and in a good condition. Ac’s should be checked so that the fog may not disturb the driver by blocking the windscreens. Also the wiring should be properly checked so that short circuits can be avoided.
