18th July, 2016 witnessed Audi Mumbai West set the pulses racing in the city as it launched the most powerful and fastest production Audi ever built the next generation Audi R8 V10 Plus at the Audi Mumbai West showroom. The car was launched in India at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo in February at a price of 2.47 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). The sports car, which was launched in the presence of cricketer Virat Kohli and Bollywood star Alia Bhatt, was first unveiled globally at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. "The newly conceptualized high performance sports car has been made even tauter and stronger, both on and off the race track. Embodied in its DNA is the know-how acquired in the numerous car racing successes that the brand has achieved over the years," said Audi India head Joe King. (PTI)
Exterior
The beauty is a real looker and comes with a single-frame front grille with a honeycomb pattern, flanked by standard flat LED head-lights or optional laser lighting clusters, which double the range to 600 meters. Further it has various features including Cleaning System, High Beam Assist, Fully Automatic Finned Hood, Wind Reflector, Heat-Insulating Glass, Windscreen Frame Made of Aluminum, Windscreen Clearing System, Audi Single Frame, Exhaust System and the Air Outlets in Aluminum Look
Interior
Inside, the Audi R8 V10 Plus sports newly-developed bucket seats and a driver-oriented cockpit that features an uncluttered design. Many of the buttons and knobs in the older model have been replaced by the configurable 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit. Customers also have a choice between Alcantara/pearl Nappa leather and fine Nappa leather upholstery, and will be able to add clear-coated carbon fibre accents. There is an optional 500-Watt Bang & Olufsen sound system as well along with an Audi phone box.
Transmission and comfort
The car features 5.2 FSI Quattro V10 mid-engine with up to 610 hp (449 kW) of power responds instantly to throttle and propels the car from 0 to 100 in 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 330 km/h. Where the comfort and convenience of the driver is concerned the car has various features like Gear Selector, Gear Knob, FootwellTrim & Floor Mats, Window Controls, Safty Steering Column, Warning & Control Lights, Warning Triangle and Hill Start Assist. It also has the Driver Information System, Audi Music Interface Bang & Olufsen Sound System.
Safety
When it comes to safety, the car is well equipped with Anti-Theft Wheel Bolts, Tyre Repare Kit, Vehicle Jack, Active Roll Over Protection, First Aid Kit, Anti Slip Regulation, Electronic Differential Lock, Sport Button and Recuperation.
Pricing
Much lighter than its predecessor, the next generation Audi R8 V10 Plus is priced at around Rs. 2.6crore in India.
