1-litre engine for Kwid

4th August, 2016: The top- fifth seller car in for June 2016, Renault Kwid is all set to get a makeover this month. The French auto maker will soon launch the new version of its small car that will be now powered by 1-litre petrol engine, probably by the end of this month. With this enhancement in the feature, The company, which currently sells the Kwid with an 800cc engine, now targets for a 5 per cent share in the Indian car market by the end of this year.

Making his intentions very clear, Renault India Operations Country CEO & Managing Director Sumit Sawhney said “Last year we had stated that we want to garner 5 per cent market share in India. We are on course and I am hopeful that by December this year we would touch that mark.”

With this launch, the company surely aims to compete with Maruti Suzuki's Alto, which also has an 800 cc in Alto 800 as well as a 1-litre engine in its K10 versions.

While the price for the new 1- litre petrol engine Kwid is yet to be fixed by the Auto- company, the Maruti Suzuki’s Alto K10 is priced between Rs 3.25 lakh and Rs 4.15 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Since both the companies have a good competition, the upcoming model may be priced somewhere between 3.50 Lakh – 5 Lakh.

Since its launch in last September, the car’s performance have been remarkably great. The French car- maker, Renault has been able to sell 75000 units of Kwid since its launch last year.
