What will you opt for now? Petrol , Diesel or electric engines?

The petrol engine originated in Germany in 1876.  Around the world from then, all the cars were running on petrol. It was great in terms of speed, less time consuming for startup.

Still soon after the petrol engine followed the diesel engine in 1906. And it became popular in automobiles during 1930's because of it's highest thermal efficiency (engine efficiency). But today both petrol and diesel engines are on verge of extinguishing.

One of the main constituents in increments on pollution levels are diesel vehicles. Thus, Delhi government has banned heavy diesel vehicles. After the ban, most of the automakers started manufacturing the cars only in petrol versions.

Government’s policies taken into consideration by the utility vehicle buyers too, as a result, there is a shift in fuel preference towards petrol. There was an 8 percent increment in petrol powered utility vehicles as compared to last year believes the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.  Moreover, petrol powered models were sold more than double units as compared to diesel versions. This is clearly an outcome of Supreme Court’s ban and its upliftment on August.

However, burning petrol too releases CO2, which is a cause of global warming. Not only this, but our dry petrol reserves are leading the petrol prices high everyday!

Thus, electric automobiles are coming up with a ray of hope for our mother earth! These cars are energy efficient and pollution free. The On-board battery packs are the main power supplier to the car. The companies who have realized the need of the moment are Hyundai, Chevrolet ,Toyota and Reva.

The companies would be launching their electric models soon! Hyundai i10 Electric is the all-new version of i10 with 16kWH battery and a 49KWh electric motor.  Whereas Toyota Prius is the second hybrid car launched at Auto expo that Will run on Indian roads. The Prius is coming with an electric water pump ,the first production engine that needs no accessory belts improvement fuel economy.

Last but not the least is REVA Electric Car, which is leading the electric car production. Ready with two electric cars- REVA NXR and REVA NXG. The NXR will accelerate to a max speed of 105km/h with a range of 160 km on a single charge. Now I can't wait to test-drive these electric sensations!
