Welcome Hybridity with the Toyota Prius this new year

Hybrids are like the talk of the town right now and masses would be really happy to have this news.

The Japanese automaker, Toyota Motors is all set to launch the 4th generation Prius coming January. This epitome of hybrid vehicles was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and is expected to be set for sale in the coming year.

The interiors of this new car are futuristic as well, with things like a digital speedometer, and touchscreen infotainment system compatible withApple Car Play, Android Auto and MirrorLink function. Dual-zone automatic climate control, automatic headlamps, cruise control and automatic climate control, airbags, an electronic stability program with emergency braking all comes as standard in the Prius.

Featuring a 1.8-litre four cylinder petrol engine paired with an AC synchronous motor, the new generation Prius is definitely better than the previous generation. It features improved batteries with higher energy density; smaller electric motors, with higher power density than the previous Prius motors; and the gasoline engine features a 40% more thermal efficiency. The fuel economy has improved on average by about 10% over the previous generation as Toyota expects the Prius to average more than 40kmpl. The new generation Prius will be imported as a CBU with no direct rival in India as yet.

The previous generation of Prius was launched in the year 2010, but could not perform that well. With the Toyota Camry already ruling the league, the company hopes that the Prius would show some decent sales.

The new Prius measures 60mm longer, 15mm wider and 20mm lower than the older car, and is expected to be priced around 40 Lakhs.
