Volvo plans to make India go ALL ELECTRIC

The luxury car maker from Sweden-Volvo plants to introduce plug in hybrids and electric cars to its India portfolio. The Indian government  and the transport ministry is already working on policies that would encourage people to adopt to electric and hybrid cars.And this is where Volvo comes to the play.

"Volvo has the capability of launching its entire range in plug-in hybrid version. India will look to launch all the plug-in hybrid variants of the car line portfolio relevant to the market here, which will be launched globally over the next 4-5 years," said Volvo Auto India managing director Tom Von Bonsdorff.

 

Volvo recently launched the XC90 T8 Excellence which is the first plug in hybrid Sports Utility Vehicle. This is India’s first of its kind. Priced at Rs.1.25 Cr, this is something that would definitely strengthen Volvo’s portfolio in the Indian market.Jam packed with features like collision warning with full auto braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-go function and pedestrian, cyclist and large animal detection.Once fully charged it can go upto 40kms.

 

Volvo which is known for their work on alternate every sources also plans to introduce its all electric car in India by 2019.

 

Volvo has a vision of having one million electrified cars by 2025.And marks that is the taxation policies of the country favour their plans to expand, then India might contribute to its success.

 

The company has already booked 50 units of its new offering, i.e. the XC90 T8 Excellence. Volvo Auto India has also increased its market share by 25% in the year 2016 by selling approximately 1800 units so far.

 

The company is happy to see such a growth despite the downfall in the car market due to the diesel ban.
