Volkswagen India Car Recall Program Starts this September

Volkswagen; in this whole process of mending its reputation after the whole emission scandal is facing a lot of issues to make everything ALRIGHT!

 

Yes Volkswagen India; which was supposed to recall all its faulty cars in India, in the first quarter of the year, will now have to undergo a long drawn process. After getting a permission from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), VW India is finally recalling about 3.24 lakh diesel car that came under the global emission scandal which indeed scandalised the whole German Auto industry.

 

According to the sources, the company has already proposed the first set of technical measures and is waiting for an approval from ARIA before it starts the recall in India.

 

So far, the company plans technical updates on 1.9 Volkswagen cars, 88,700 Skoda and 36,500 Audi cars but the final number of updates could slightly be higher.

 

In September last year the company admitted that it equipped its vehicles with a particular engine that could skew the emission data thus passing the emission test smoothly.Many countries like Romania and Switzerland banned the sale  of VW cars.

 

The whole scandal costed about $18.2 billion to the company.Apart from this the company is also facing fines of millions of dollars from various courts.
