Volkswagen chalks out new plans for India

The German automaker is aggressively looking to expand its product portfolio for the Indian market. This move will help Volkswagen to increase its volumes as well as help it to cater to masses at large.

The automaker is looking to infuse around Rs 7,800 Cr in the Indian market and has plans to launch a total of 6 new models until 2020. This will be done under the development lead by the group company, Skoda India. In the coming years, India will see new a set of new crash test rules as well as new BS VI regulations which has been the driving force behind VW’s fresh product line-up for the subcontinent.

Volkswagen India has not revealed any details about their strategy but most likely the company will launch the New Generation Polo, Polo-based Ameo and T-ROC under the Volkswagen brand. Skoda Rapid and Karoq SUV will be launched under the Skoda brand.

All we can say is that these plans look very promising and should give a further boost to VW’s current sales figures and help it in achieving a mass-market brand position in India.
