The government has recently passed a regulation that all public transport vehicles with over 6 seaters will have fitments of location tracking devices for a higher safety of the vehicle. The system collects the fleet data of the journey made by the vehicle on road and provides a comprehensive picture of the location of the vehicle and the track covered so far, and the distance of the destination and time taken for the journey.

It will be followed from 1st April'2018 and will include state transport buses, school vans, ambulance and other special purpose public carriers. Also, the vehicles already sold will have to get their vehicles fitted with the GPS system providing vehicular tracking system along with the newly selling vehicles. The talk with the Supreme Court is also going on to insert an alarm that will go off if the driver crosses the maximum prescribed speed for the car.  It might go mandatory for all the trucks on road. This will enhance the traction of all the heavy as well as commercial vehicles on road in terms of their diversions, speed monitoring, and the route taken. It would in turn help track the trucks carrying heavy and expensive goods and would reduce the chances of illegal smuggling, the illegal transportation of minerals for instance. Just like we feel safe while traveling via ola or uber cabs because we know that it is GPS installed and the route is tracked during the whole journey, installation of vehicle tracking system in all the vehicles will also provide a better safety to all.
