The auto sector is already facing a harsh time due to the complete ban of BS III norms based vehicle from the facade of Indian auto Market, but the thing to worry about is bigger than that. Yes, they have to figure out how to deal with the BS IIIvehicles without loss, but they also have to figure out how to jump directly to BSVI vehicles in mere three years time span.

Amidst all the blur, UNO Minda Group has announced that it will invest 500 k crore in the establishment of BS VI diesel based vehicles in India. The auto industry can afford a relieved breath or two, as the group supplies major vehicular parts like switches, horns, lights, alloy wheels etc. This investment will be spent in making the engine compatible with the new diesel fuel and make the engine cleaner, upgrade other parts to be compatible with the new engine along with all new sensors and controllers, and find a suitable partner to collaborate with Minda Group for the development of the technology further. As was told by Naveesh Garg, chief Strategy and Technology Officer, they are working to develop new diesel particulate filter and selective catalytic reduction technologies to work efficiently under the BSVI regulations.

The company is trying to partner either Japanese or European auto giants in India, as major OEMs are manufactured by Maruti, Nissan, and Honda only.

They will also be making the sensors much more sophisticated towards the actions of the engine, as the new guidelines demand much more regulation, monitoring, signaling, and control.
