Travel Between Delhi-Jaipur In Just 1 And A Half Hour Soon

The capital of India and Rajasthan, popularly known as the Pink City, are going to become dearer with the building of a new expressway that will join the cities more closely. Currently, the distance between the two is 235 kms and the time taken to cover the distance is around 5 hours. But the newly proposed plan demands a build-up of 195 km long super expressway connecting the two cities. It has been finalized and the land acquisition for the same has also started. Earlier. the plan was to construct a 226 km expressway which would have started from the Indira Gandhi International airport, Delhi and terminated at Daulatpura, Jaipur and would have reduced the travel time by mere 90 minutes. But the project experienced some land acquisition problems and tough relocation accompanied with higher cost inputs due to which the plan was scrapped. The newly designed plan proposes to cover seven distinct districts, ie, Gurugram, Jhajjar, Rewari, Mahendergarh, Alwar, Sikar and Jaipur, that shall be covered in between Delhi-Gurugram expressway which will diverge into two at Kherki Daula toll plaza and culminate at Chandwaji district of Jaipur. This will reduce the travel time by 2 to 3 hours and distance by 40 kms. It shall be 195 kms long, 31 kms lesser than the previously proposed project.

Its implementation shall bring about enormous relief and comfortable journey for the ones that practice a daily up down in between the abundantly populated cities. It will be a six-lane road with three on each side, thus making the traverse of 2-,3- and 4-wheelers spacious and convenient.

The expected building cost of this super expressway will be around Rs 6,530 crores, in addition to the Rs 5,000 crores required for rehabilitation and resettlement of the masses. The total land required for the project is 1755 hectares, of which 360.65 hectares is government’s land, while 38 hectares comes in protected forest in Haryana and Rajasthan and 1.22 hectares is a reserve forest area.
