The return of the legend

 

It has been 52 years since Ford first launched the legendary Mustang,  the iconic pony car from the American carmaker. Now the sixth generation model  of the car first got unvield in the country right before the 2016 Auto Expo, promising a launch in the second half of the year and bagged Ford’s show-stopper at the event. Staying true to its word, the American carmaker had finally adheared to the wishes of the Indian enthusiasts and launched its legend on 13th of July this year. No wonder its price tag for the Indian buyers is comparitively high as compared to the other owing to the fact that the car has taken the CBU route.

Exterior

Speaking of the exterior, the new lady sports a styling with sleek fastback look that exudes class and sporty performance. It features traditional HID headlamps and LED tri-bar taillamps with sequential turn signals. Moreover, it also features power dome hood, deck spoiler, LED taillights, stainless steel twin exhaust rolled tips and large 17 inch coloured aluminium wheels. The new Mustang also gets new independent rear suspension (IRS) system that has been developed specifically for it.

Interiors

Ford Mustang interiors have a relaxed layout of things and switchgear. Also equipped with Sync3 LCD touchscreen infotainment system with 8 inch screen, power folding mirrors, navigation, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), adaptive cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS and EBD along with other features like power folding mirrors, climate-control seats, trunk space, convertible: in short it is a mix of classic and contemporary styling.

Technical specification

The beauty is power packed with a 5.0-litre V8 engine that is capable to crank out 439PS of maximum power and 540Nm of torque. The engine is connected to a 6-speed manual transmission. Its mileage comes to about 7kmpl in the city and11kmpl on highways. The car can touch the mile-a-minute mark arrives in just 4.7 seconds and with the independent rear suspension, the handling has improved. The car is equally happy on the track and off it

Competitors and pricing in India

Ford Mustang price in India starts at Rs 65 lakhs and it competes directly with Audi TT, Porsche Cayman etc.
