Policy Push For Electric Vehicles: PM

With an aim of a 'cleaner and greener India', our Prime Minister wants to leave no stone unturned in any field. When it comes to automobile industry, the Modi led government is planning to achieve an all battery operated transversing on road by 2030. For this, a new policy shall roll out soon, providing limited tax breaks for manufacturers and affordable sale of vehicles without batteries. All the non-air conditioned buses, 2 wheelers and 3 wheelers will be sold without batteries fitted in them, thus reducing the prices almost up to 70%. The batteries will be easy to take out and get exchanged with a recharged one at the stations.

IIT-Madras professor, Arjun Jhunjhunwala recently told the sources that the scheme contrasts the scheme plans followed in other countries like Japan, US, and China. The countries have also declined the changes introduced in the strategy to maximise usage of electric vehicles in our country and advised to stick to the schemes including heavy subsidiaries, just like them. But he told that India is moving ahead with its plan, irrespective of other countries' advices over the execution of the plan. At present, they are working over the technology installation in private 4 wheelers.

"It will take just two-and-half minutes to replace auto batteries and can be done in 10 minutes when city buses rest after about a 30-km trip. The model, however, will not work for AC cars and AC buses," the government official said. The ministry of transportation, power, heavy parts and petroleum are working day and night over the execution of the plan from papers to reality and the government is looking after the proper framing of the plan in accordance with the rules and regulations of our country. For taxis, the government is considering fast-charging electric stations. Specifications for each type of electric vehicle, lease plans, battery swaps and charging stations are taken care of by the government only.
