The France fame in India, Renault plans to bring its Compact SUV and premium hatchback to Indian car buyers. After bagging 4.5% of market share the last year, the manufacturers undoubtedly target to increase their share with more active launches and promotion.
After the great performance of Duster, they wish to add more cars to Indian buyers' wish list. It seems like either Kaptur or Clio is going to be the next compact SUV as they have registered phenomenal numbers in foreign markets whereas the CEO and Managing Director of the company, Sumit Sawhney hinted towards launching a premium hatchback as well. They might be working on all new prototype especially fit for Indian roads or planning to bring their much speculated Modus which was first seen in India Auto Expo in 2012 but hasn't made it here till date. Though, not much credible has been commented on that front.
With Kwid and Duster, the manufacturers could sell almost 1000 units a year in these segments. But overall Maruti and Hyundai still land up a notch ahead of Renault with their bestselling products like Baleno, Dzire, i10, i20 and their further generations. Hence, provision of more variety in distinct segments might strengthen their feet more in the country. We wait for the new taste to be added to the parlor of automobiles making rounds in here already.
