New hope for Tata, Nexon

A strong market presence that could be felt from the TATA Tiago, TATA recently launched its SUV Nexon and is banking upon it, so that it could raise its volumes closer to 15,000 to 20,000 units a month bringing it closer to its Indian rival Mahindra and Mahindra and Honda Cars India, who are currently the No. 3 and No. 4 car makers in India, achieve its goal of breaking into top 3 by end of FY19.
 

Guenter Butschek, TATA motors MD said that the growth of Tiago lead to the growth in the sales of SUVs like Hexa and sedans like Tigor. The newly launched SUV, Nexon has the potential to take TATA motors to the next level.

Speaking on the sidelines of Nexon SUV launch, which was priced . 5.85 lakh to 9.45 lakh ex-showroom New Delhi, Butschek said aiming for a podium, if not a No. 2 position in the compact SUV space with Nexon is `realistic' and is not “aiming for moon“ due to the strong value package of Nexon.

“No doubt the next level needs to come with Nexon, for two reasons, we believe in terms of pricing, product, designs, it is an extremely attractive package and the segment is a fast growing segment.For us to reach 20,000 units, higher upside of Tiago and incremental volumes of Nexon can take us there,“ said Butschek.


The tightly priced Nexon will give a tuff competition to the Ford Ecosport and the Vitara Brezza that are priced very closely.

“Already, the net promoter score has been on the high, there are more people who are willing to consider a Tata car than what it was in recent past. With a compelling value package, we are confident of sustaining the momentum, “ added Butschek.
