New Alto, this New Year

Maruti Suzuki's, MD & CEO, Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa has announced the launch of the crossover-like Alto Next-Gen in 2017, inheriting its major designing and operation from its previous edition. Not much has been revealed about the design and development of the vehicle, though it is supposed to be first cited in Sept-Oct 2017. Its price shall range from 2.6-3.8 lakhs. The car has done prominently the best in its own segment, it is expected to be the popular choice of the middle-class car buyers.

Highlights:

The front grille has been broadened, giving it a tougher look, though the bumper and sides resemble Alto 800 itself. It will be 65 Kgs lighter than before, which will make the car lighter and faster. The 2016 model recorded the most number of units sold in its segment and the next edition is expected to be the middle-class's choice, especially in Kerala, after the announcement of green tax as most of the people would want to switch to a decent optimum car from the old ones.

It will carry all-new cabin with 796cc, MPFI, 3-Cylinder engine, having max. power and torque of 48 bhp @ 6,000 rpm and 70 Nm at 3,500 rpm. It will have a 5-speed gear box operated manually along with highest mileage of 19-23 kmph.It will also carry all the necessary features like Power Steering, Power Window, Central Locking, Integrated Stereo System and Fabric Upholstery.

Safety:

It will have optional airbags and AMT. All the upcoming Maruti vehicles are expected to upgrade their safety, even in the basic models for a safer and more comfortable drive.

Though, Maruti's Alto has always been a favourite for the Indians it would be interesting to see a tough fight between the Alto and Kwid 1.0. Also, Tata's Zest may give it a tough competition.
