MG Motor started bookings for Hector Plus

MG Motor which is a Chinese company owned by SAIC (Chinese state-owned) MG is trying to give competition to Kia SELTOS, both the companies launched in India almost at the same time with the same category of products mid-size SUV, after a year, Kia Seltos is far ahead in terms of popularity and demand. MG is trying to renovate & revive the existing product line to face the competition.  MG Motor is now all set to launch their new 6-seater version of the SUV called the Hector Plus, and have started accepting bookings for the same.

MG has made some cosmetic changes in the upcoming SUV to differentiate it from the regular 5-seater version. Starting from the front, the grille has grown in size. The design of the LED DRLs, headlight, and fog lamps are also different from the regular version. The turn indicators are now placed on the lower part of the bumper with headlights. The bumper itself has received minor changes to give it a fresh look.

The side profile of the car looks exactly like the existing Hector. The rear portion of the Hector Plus gets a new all-LED tail lamp, bumpers and the tailgate now gets a smart swipe feature to open the boot. Other new features on Hector Plus include heated ORVMs, The length of the car has increased slightly but, the wheelbase remains the same.

 The major change is the third row of seats. The second row in Hector Plus get captain seats and the third-row seats and can now accommodate 6-people. Also plush leather interiors and other features like panoramic sunroof, cruise control, huge touchscreen infotainment system with updated voice commands and connected car features, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps etc..

There is no change in the engine. it will be powered by a 1.5 litre, turbocharged petrol engine that generates 143 Ps and 250 Nm of peak torque. The same engine is available in Hybrid version which comes to a manual gearbox only. The regular petrol version comes with DCT gearbox option. The diesel version of the Hector Plus is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged unit that generates  170 Ps and 350 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. MG has not yet announced the price but, they are expected to put an aggressive price tag to beat the aggressive competition in mid-size SUV market in India
