MG Comet EV Launched At Rs 7.98 Lakh With 230 Km Range

 

MG Motors India has finally launched the Comet EV at a starting price of Rs 7.98 lakh ex-showroom in India. The bookings for MG Comet EV will start on May 15th & the deliveries will also start by late May. The Comet EV offers a range of 230 km on a single full charge. It gets a 17.3 kWh battery pack and a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor producing 42 PS of power & 110 Nm of torque. On the charging front, Comet EV only gets a normal 3.3 kW AC charging option that can take the battery from 0% to 100% in 7 hours and from 10% to 80% in 5 hours.

 

MG Comet EV is a small & compact electric car that is city-friendly, easy to maneuver, easy to drive, & easy to park. With an overall length of just 2974mm, the Comet EV is even shorter than Tata Nano which had a length of 3099mm. However, with 1505mm of width, the MG Comet EV is wider than Tata Nano’s 1495mm width. The 4.2m turning radius of the Comet EV makes it extremely easy to maneuver & easy to park car. Despite of being a small city focused car, the Comet EV gets disc brakes in the front & drum in the rear.

 

On the features & safety front, the MG Comet EV gets LED headlamps & tail-lamps, LED DRLs, LED turn indicators, tilt adjustable steering with audio controls, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, 2 speaker setup, TPMS, ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, reverse camera with sensors, rear LED fog lamp, 50:50 split rear seat, electrically adjustable ORVMs, etc. MG has also loaded the Comet EV with advanced tech features like a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen system with customizable home screen & widgets, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, and MG i-SMART connected car tech with 55+ connected telematics features.

 

The new MG Comet EV will rival the likes of Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3. After the much costlier ZS EV, the Comet EV is the second EV offering from MG Motors in India. As the Comet EV is priced under Rs 8 lakh ex-showroom, it is now the most affordable electric car in India, beating the Tata Tiago EV which starts from Rs 8.69 lakh ex-showroom.
