2016 and the people have been hit by the Diesel engine bans in Delhi NCR and Kerala, a cess hike on luxury vehicles and SUVs and now a 1% TCS hike from June 2016. 2016 seem to be a difficult year for the potential car buyers as well as the auto mobile manufacturers. But as they say LIFE goes on!
To solve the problem of the diesel bans Mahindra has now come up with a new variant of its new SUV- XUV 500. XUV 500 1.99lt has been especially designed for cities like Delhi NCR and Kerala where heavy diesel engines have been banned.
XUV 500 in India is available in three trims – W6, W8 and W 10 and is priced at Rs. 14.51,Rs. 15.94 & Rs. 17.31 respectively. Interesting fact is that both the 2.2L and 1.99L cars are priced equivalently.
This 1.99L engine produces 140PS at 3750rpm but the amount of torque produced has reduced from 330Nm to 320Nm. Mahindra plans to introduce the 1.99L variant in most of the states if the NGT ban comes into effect more aggressively.
Mahindra XUV gives a straight competition to Hyundai’s Creta and Maruti’s Brezza.
