In 2015, the stakes of the Italian Design and engineering part 2 were taken by Mahindra Tech which is an IT company based in India to provide it with much-needed financial stability.Collaboratively, the companies could generate a whopping profit of 55% of $82 million. Pininfarina has designed all the best luxury cars around the globe, including Rolls-Royce, Peugeot, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and Maserati. Now, after two years of strong collaboration with Mahindra Tech, the company plans to achieve $1 billion dreams within next five years, and it doesn't seem far-fetched at all because the alliance generates $450-500 million a year already.

While Pininfarina rings its unique stylized engineering and hardware accuracy, Mahindra Tech amalgamates it with its IT excellence. Also, Mahindra has a base of 800 customers in India, which is directly accessible to the Italian firm as well.

"We have a billion-dollar dream, it is a dream that can be conceived and imagined only with Tech Mahindra," he said. "Imagine this, Tech Mahindra has 800 clients, we have 160. If 10% of Tech Mahindra's clients become ours, we will add 80 customers to our portfolio. If 20% of our customers becomes Tech Mahindra clients, they are adding more business. See how we draw the top line," Silvio Pietro Angori said.

Even the inclination of the designing company is more towards the auto sector, especially developed in association with Mahindra Tech.Out of 600 employees, 400 work for the development of engineered products used in the auto industry and mere 200 are in designing field. Also, 80% of the future plans are of manufacturing electric and hybrid cars. Mahindra has hinted towards the involvement of Pininfarina in the designing of one of its bestselling products-TUV 300, though it hasn't been confirmed by Angori.

It is yet to be seen what is the plan and plot to achieve the $1 bn dream. In India, there is a major divide in the rich and poor segments and major luxury car holders are few in numbers and belong to the elite. Mercedez-Benz and Audi are working rigorously over the technological compression to bring luxury cars to the rural areas at cheaper and affordable prices. If this collaboration also brings about something new to the tastes of Indian customers at affordable prices, they are sure shot going to earn big. We hope the best for the alliance.
