Launch Alert: BMW 5 series, Today

Munich carmaker is all ready to launch the 7th generation of the BMW 5 Series today. This executive sedan made its debut in the world in October 2016, but it took a good time for the company to launch its sedan offering to India.

The BMW is likely to be offered in 3 engine options in India, which include 520d, 530i and 530d.

The base variant will come with 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 190PS/400Nm and will be called the 520d. The nest in the lineup, that is, the 530i will be offered with a petrol version only and will be powered with the engine that produces 252PS of power and 350Nm of torque. It is the same engine that is found in the BMW 330i GT. The high end option is expected to be a 3.0 lt  and 6 cylinder diesel which has the capacity to produce 265PS of power and 620Nm of torque. BMW is expected to offer all these engines with its 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission as standard.

The 5 series is nothing but a more shrinked version of the BMW 7series. The feature list on the new car will include four-zone climate control, electric seats with massage functions and new-gen iDrive system. On the outside, the 5 Series will boast adaptive dampers, LED headlamps with optional adaptive LED lights and an anti-dazzle high-beam tech that extends the viewing range up to half a kilometer.
