Jeep Compass Manufacturing to be Directed to India

After Brazil, Mexico and China, the jeep compass has finally made a mark on our homeland. India will now be the fourth global manufacturing hub for this Fiat subsidiary.

Looks like Fiat Chrysler Automobiles India’s (FCAI) attention  on jeep has multiplied recently and the company is investing a huge money to develop its manufacturing unit in its Ranjangaon plant in Maharashtra.

The Compass so produced in the country will be exported to the right-hand drive market like UK, Japan and Australia.

Fiat’s sale figures were badly hit with the demonetization of the Indian currency, and to cope up with the downfall so cause Fiat offered an enormous amount of discounts on its PUNTO and LINEA. It recently launched the MOPAR customer care program to come up to the level.

When asked about the pricing of the new car Kevin Flynn, president & MD, Fiat’s Indian operation said "The pricing will be very attractive because local content will be quite high. We're developing new technologies with local suppliers particularly in terms of vehicle weight & mileage. It opens up options for some of the other projects we want to do at Ranjangaon."

As for the Compass sharing its diesel engine with the Tata Q501, he said: "We are recognized as suppliers of superior powertrains and that part of our business will continue. But it is not appropriate to talk about the other company's partnerships until they are made public by them."

A country like India which is likely to see a boom in the auto industry despite the economic crises as the post demonetization effect, Fiat Chrysler tries to get back into competition with the new Jeep lineup.

Fiat expects compass to be a game change for them.Company plans to launch it by the third quarter of the year.
