Recently, a new policy coming was declared by the government, making the revision of the fuel pricing every day a compulsion from the mid-June onwards this year. According to the petrol pumps, it has poured in heavy losses to them for which, they have organised a strike today. A tumult was seen across Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of the state where people stood in queues for long yesterday, seeing the chances of a strike.

The petrol pumps are denying any petrol supplies for the last two days. Running out of fuel means a reduction in dispatching the fuel further to the customers, which resulted in an unrest among the daily commuters. It is a state which has no metro facility to rely upon, hence the transportation is completely in the hands of fuel based vehicles, electric vehicles being an exception on roads at present.

The major problem is that the daily revision of prices in accordance with the international pricing of the fuel would mean that the fuel that they purchased yesterday on a higher price shall let out at a cheaper price if the prices fall the very next day. Petrol and diesel are the commodities that are in demand on a large scale, hence the daily losses across the state in a single day shall sum up to huge. In that respect, All India Petroleum Dealers Association that look after 23 state's fuel distribution and in Kerala, it looks after the branching 2000 and more petrol pumps. They have denied to intake any fuel and launched a protest against the new policy that came into being on 15th June'17.

Some petrol pumps have even made a statement to shut down the stations if no solution is brought to light.
