Indian Roads Narrate the Unsafest Stories

Indian roads are highly unsafe. Normally only girls in India were asked to stay back at home, especially during night, because of the unsafe environment. Sadly now, everyone has to be cautious on the roads.

In a country, which invites a road accident in every 3.5 minutes and 400 accidental deaths per day is enough to scare anyone.

India is standing at the top in the list of accidents with mind-boggling ratios and the death rates are increasing every year.

You need laws and you need to implement and enforce them. That is the tricky bit in India. Sure make cars have seat belts but can you make people wear them? That's the bit we have to answer," said Murad Ali Baig, an automobile motoring writers.

You will be surprised to know that 10% of the accidental deaths in the world happen in India, a country with less than 3% vehicles in the universe.

Remorsefully, safety features are rear in Indian cars as compared to foreign countries. The Global NCAP conducted a safety test, which included cars like Hyundai Eon, Maruti Suzuki Eeco, Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Mahindra Scorpio, and Renault Kwid but the results were disappointing.

So what can be done?

Firstly automakers should manufacture automobiles prioritizing safety and equipping their cars with more airbags, anti-braking system, good quality materials and much more. People should be sensitized more on the need of driving safely and following the traffic rules. Also, the transport ministry should be strict in issuing the licenses to drivers.

However the Government believes that the accident rates will be reduced to half in the coming five years with the Motor Vehicle (amendment) Bill. All we can do is hope for a safer India.
