After 7 years of testing in four cities of USA, Alphabet Inc, the parent company of Google, is all prepared to dispatch its self-driving Hybrid Minivan, Waymo in 2017 which is capable of navigating the travel via LIDAR-system, Velodyne 64- beam laser and other softwares which easily spot cyclists, heavy objects, construction zones and pedestrians on road from a huge distance in omni directions. It can predict the cyclist's behaviour and adjust to abrupt changes instantly, making way through intricate closed lanes, zig-zag movements and railroad crossings.
Chris Urmson, Director, Google self- driving cars recently said in a video that "the opportunity for people to just move around and not worry about it is going to be incredibly empowering for them." When disclosed to commons, an old couple, Walt and Linda stated that "It slowed down before it went around the curve and then it accelerated in the curve."
Safety:
Every year, 9,262 deaths ocuur due to speeding, 9,967 due to alcohol consumption, 3,179 due to distraction and 846 due to drowsiness. Waymo's defensive driving skills will significantly reduce the number. It has been test- drove for 1 billion Kms. since 2009 and only one time has it been recorded to have caused a collision because of its own mistake, thus making it much safer and convenient for traversing from highways to compact streets.
