Hyundai’s Diwali Gift for its Customers - Tuscon

The south- Korean carmaker Hyundai is all set to launch its new SUV Hyundai Tuscon in October, this year.  The latest version of the SUV was showcased at the Auto Expo this year and thereby confirmed its launch in the second quarter of the same. The managing director and CEO of HMIL, Mr. YK Koo confirmed that the new Tucson will have some local content and will be made in India. It will be produced with high-level of localisation that will help the South Korean carmaker price it quite competitively. 

Specifications

The third generation SUV comes with a matured Fluidic 2.0 design philosophy of Hyundai. The face of the SUV is dominated by the signature hexagonal grille in chrome, flanked by LED headlamps. The SUV is built on a new platform that offers larger cabin space, according to the company.

Exterior

Just like its elder sibling, Santa Fe, it carries a contemporary design Based on evolved Fluidic Sculpture. The front fascia of the car has sweptback LED headlamps, company’s signature hexagonal grille, long bonnet curves, silver skid plates and also gets stylish fog lamp enclosures with two individual lighting elements. Bold side creases are masculine with canted-forward wheel arches, sloping roofline and sculpted rear haunches. The overall length, width and height measures 4,475mm, 1,850mm and 1,645mm respectively.

Interior

It is equipped with an 8-inch touch screen display, Automatic parking, Smart powered tailgate, Blind spot assist system, Drive mode selector, Lane keeping assist, Autonomous emergency braking, 5-seat configuration and also the Best-in-class cabin space.

Engine and transmission

Tuscon comes with 3 engine options, i.e. a 1.6-litre T-GDI petrol, a 114bhp, 1.7-litre diesel and a 182bhp, 2.0-litre diesel.  Petrol mill comes with a 7- speed gearbox while diesel one comes with the 6- speed box. The SUV will come with the four-wheel-drive (FWD) system and will be propelled by a 2.0-litre CRDi diesel engine that is tuned to generate 134bhp and 181bhp.

Price and completion

It is determined to give a tough competition to Mahindra XUV500, Honda CR-V and the upcoming cars in 2016-17. The SUV will be priced between 17- 25 Lakh in India.
