Honda India Restructure with 6 new Models soon

Honda, the Japanese carmaker has been seeing a downfall in its sales in India, since a few years. A company that was once running the best in the country has to restructure its strategies in order to get back on roads with a road. The company now plans to get back its lost grip and hit the road with 6 new models in the coming years.

With the main focus on enhancing its position in the India market, the company is taking its big leap forward.

Interestingly, in the era where most other automobile companies are coming up with electrics and hybrids, Honda will be launching petrol and diesel vehicles in its upcoming lineup. This could be a result of a lack of clarity of the government policy scenario and its take on such futuristic vehicles.

All the upcoming models will be assembled in the two Honda plants present in India.

On being asked on the Hybrid and Electric line up, Honda Motor Co CEO Takahiro Hachigo stated that it is still unknown if the hybrids will be able to capture a good market share in the country. And when it comes to the electric vehicles, infrastructural development is needed to take it further. He further stated that Honda would be happier to make affordable hybrids for the county, without worry about the government support.

After the implementation of GST in July this year, hybrids vehicles have become expensive in India as the tax incidence increased as compared to previous taxation regime.
