Honda To Hike Prices Across All Its Segments

Unlike other brands which hike their prices at the beginning of every year, Honda has chosen April to be the month of their official price hike. They have increased the cost of Passenger Vehicles from all the segments up by standard 10 thousand rupees. Jnaneswar Sen, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales reasoned out the action to be the resultant of increase in freight charges and input costs. Though the company also said that their newly launched WR-V will remain untouched by the price hike. The hike is not that severe if we compare it withTata Motors that hiked it up to 25 to 50 thousand rupees. But still, it remains more than the lowest price hike of the year implemented by Maruti Suzuki, of mere Rs. 8014.

Recently, Honda had also launched it much popular Honda facelift. The price hike is not likely to affect the sales of the cars under the brand as it has already earned a good reputation in Indian Market. Six years next to 2007, it started making a profit in the country. After being at a loss for six years in a row, Honda booked a profit of Rs 362.7 crore in 2014-15while it saw a net loss of Rs 479.8 crore in 2013-14. The last time Honda booked a profit was in 2007-08 when it recorded a net profit of Rs 235.9 crore. After that, it hasn't looked back, be it in market share or in volume sales or profit generation
