The Electric Chevrolet Bolt under Production. 200 Miles in Single Charge

A car that can go more that 200 miles in a single charge and is less than the price of an average car in the US, and yes – its electric.

No doubt that the auto industry has taken its step forwards in the name of social responsibility. General Motors has now started the production of the all-electric Chevrolet Bolt.

With an average sale price of $34,000, the company plans to put it on sale in California and Oregon before the year and will follow to the rest of the world in the coming year.

The Bolt’s 238-mile range and its $30,000 pricing is going to attract a lot of customers to the offering. They engineers believe that it will be an exciting offer and an alternative to cars with internal combustion engine. While they expect the Bolt to incrementally add to the number of electric cars now on the road, they don't expect a seismic shift to electricity yet.

The range of 200 miles in a single charge covers the daily average round trip of about 40 miles in the US. Thus, it will be a kind of a comfort for the people, as they would no more fear their car running out of power.

However, experts predict that the sale of this new electric car will not cross the mark of 30,000 in the first year and thus it wont add up must to the already running electrics on the US roads. Also, Tesla, which has been rolling out electric cars with a range of over 200 miles, is more affordable. Thus, it would be really difficult for this Bolt to survive in the market.

Whereas, it seems that GM is quite confident with this new product and believes that is will be a game changer.

In a quick test drive, the expert’s fount that the car accelerated quickly when compared to a gas car and GM claimed that it would go to a 60 mile speed in about 6.5 second.
