CP will be vehicle free

Buying the concept of foreign countries, CP will go "vehicle free" from February onwards. In order to reduce pollution and traffic, the New Delhi Municipal Corporation has banned the entry of any vehicle in the inner and middle circle zones. 

The place is a major tourist and shopping spot. Many youngsters find their escape from daily routines here. In the lieue of decongesting the roads and minimise traffic jams, the area will see no vehicles for the next three months. In this duration The Delhi Police and Urban Development Council will keep a check on traffic patterns, visitors influx and come up with a proper plan to control and coordinate the traffic conveniently. 

According to the reports on pollution levels in Delhi that was released around diwali, Connaught Place was declared to be one of the most polluted regions. Thus, barring the entry of vehicle here might be able to give a clean air to breathe and walk in freely and easily. The measure will go under testing from February onwards, which might get permanent based on the analysis.  

A ministry official recently stated that “People will have to park outside this zone. Free ‘park and ride’ services from major parking areas at Shivaji Stadium, Baba Kharak Singh Marg and Palika parking will be made available.”  3172 vehicles can be accomodated in these parking while mere 1088 are actually parked here. When all the vehicles will be parked here, the area is likely to see more people willing to visit the place and might increase the market of the area. 

It has already been a great tried and tested move running in other countries like the famous New York Square, Boulevard Saint Laurent in Montreal and Camden Street in London. Lets see how what becomes of it in the heart of our country.
