Chinese automaker Chery to come to India, team up with Tata

Indian auto industry is topping the charts, and with the continuous progress it is also becoming one of the hubs for the foreign carmakers.

With the south Korean automaker, Kia in the list already another carmaker for China is all set to expand its base to India with Chery International.

Chery International, right now is studying the possibilities of expanding its base and the Indian auto market. It has a joint venture with Tata Motors’ Jaguar Land Rover in its home country and it may use the same to make a strong foundation in India. However, it has not been decided till date.

The Chinese Automakers, currently are facing a downfall in the home country and thus is looking for options for expansion. In the recent past a lot of Chinese automakers have shown interest in India and some of them have taken concrete steps to hit the nail at the right time. This intern will also help them to compensate for a slow growth rate in China.

Chery, which is a state-owned company has already sold about six million vehicles in China where it had started its operations about two decades ago. Along with Chery, other Chinese automaker who plan to enter India include Shanghai Automotive and Beiqi Foton.

Chery chief executive Chen Anning said the evolution of the Indian market was very similar to that China had seen.
