Transmission:
The vehicle carries 1.0 litre 3V BoosterJet turbocharged petrol engine that generates 101 bhp of power at 5500 rpm and 150 Nm of torque available between 1700-4500 rpm while the 1.3-litre diesel pumps out 75bhp and 190 Nm controlled via 5-speed manual gear box. The petrol variant contains optional CVT automatic gearbox. The Maruti Baleno delivers a claimed mileage of 21.4km/hr for the petrol and 27.39km/hr for the diesel. It can reach a top speed of 140 km/hr.
Interior:
Bucket seats with new upholstery and aluminium finished pedals are the features that are new. It shall have SmartPlay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and bluetooth connectivity alongside a multi-function steering wheel. It has a cargo size of 339 liters. It is available in four trims – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha – and in seven colour options. It has all the essentials like engine start and stop button, navigation system, adjustable seats, automatic climate control and voice control.
Exterior and safety:
It is 1745 mm wide, 3995 mm long and 1500 mm tall with a wheel base of 2520 mm and a ground clearance of 170 mm with a 15 inch alloy wheel. Its overall kerb weight is 960 kgs that makes it light and swift to move on road. The car draws most of its body designing from its previous edition Baleno.
Coming to safety features, the hatch has central locking system, ABS, dual airbags, smart access card entry, brake assist, door ajar warning, crash sensor, anti-theft alarm, side and front impact beams and child lock in the top models while the base ones miss out on brake assist, ABS and smart access card entry.
It rivals the Hyundai i20, Ford Figo, Abarth Punto, Honda Jazz and the Volkswagen Polo GT.
