Baleno is one of the most popular premium hatchbacks that Maruti has to offer. Maruti has now decided to give it a new avatar. The company has now introduced a CVT (continuously variable transmission) automatic option for the petrol Baleno’s top-spec, Alpha trim. The more premium hatchback Maruti Baleno Alpha CVT has priced at Rs 8.34 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
This top spec model gets bi-xenon headlamps. It is also equipped with the Suzuki’s SmartPlay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink connectivity among others, which were missing in the Zeta CVT trim.
The CVT engine comes with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and it produces a power of 84PS and 115Nm of torque.
The other premium hatchback in this segment includes the Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Honda Jazz out of which the only Baleno has decided to come with a full-spec petrol automatic trim.
Amongst the other models is the Honda Jazz that offers a CVT with paddle shifters in the V CVT trim which is second from top model. This car has almost all other features except for the Magic seats and a touchscreen navigation.
