2017 to bring the all new Maruti Suzuki Ignis in India!

After Maruti Baleno and Maruti Brezza, now it's time for the Maruti Ignis compact crossover. The car will be sharing the same petrol and diesel engines from the Baleno while the important new feature to be introduced is the SHVS mild hybrid technology.

The car made its international debut at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show but showcased itself in India at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. Due to some internal reasons, the car could not run on the Indian roads, although now it will be launched in January 2017.
 

While the internationally sold model of the Ignis comes equipped with features like automatic climate control, SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system and heated front seats among others, while safety features include dual front airbags along with side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Program (ESP).The India-spec Ignis model will lose off some features as compared to the international-spec model.
 

The exteriors include front projector headlamps, U-shaped LED daytime running lights, bulging wheel arches on the sides along with LED rear taillights. The well designed front bumper gets round fog lamp cluster that are winged by large air intakes on either side while the elite rear bumper gets black plastic cladding on it to accentuate the sporty design character of the Ignis.

 

Mechanically, the petrol variant is powered by a 1.2-litre K-Series 4-cylinder petrol engine that gives out 84 BHP of maximum power and 114 Nm of peak torque while the oil burner is powered by a 1.3-litre DDiS 4-cylinder diesel engine that churns out 74 BHP of power and 190 Nm of peak torque. The diesel variant is also expected to come equipped with Suzuki’s SHVS mild hybrid technology.
 

To be priced in the range of INR 4 lakh to INR 7 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the car will surely rule the market.
