Toyota a Step Further, to Provide Automatic Braking System Sooner than Others.

The Japanese automobile company, Toyota announced to provide Automatic Braking System in all its vehicle by 2017. Toyota makes this move to speed up on the pledge from most automakers to provide automatic braking by 2022.

This new safety feature detects imminent crashes and engages brakes if the driver does not react to the situation. Toyota would also include other safety systems like lane departure warnings, pre-collision braking and automatic high beams. All the Toyota & luxury Lexus models would standardize this feature by 2017.

U.S. auto safety regulations announced that 20 automakers in the U.S. have agreed to make AEB(Automatic Emergency Braking) standard in nearly all the vehicles by 2022. The agreement was reached between the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and 20 automakers that represent nearly the entire U.S. auto market.

Toyota, however, does provide these star safety systems in the high-end models but these had not been standardized. People willing to pay more receive the safety features.

This rule will put pressure on the automakers to provide high-end safety features to the people who can only afford to buy low priced cars.

Audi, BMW, Fiat Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Porsche and Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo have all committed to the pact, which was brokered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the IIHS.

The group represents about 99 percent of U.S. light-vehicle sales, according to NHTSA.
