Mahindra XUV aero, An affordable SUV Coupe for India

When the covers were pulled off the XUV Aero in the auto expo, something took the breath away and the reason was this SUV cum sports car. Mahindra takes it to be the brands first of its kind.

Clearly Mahindra does not know much about sports cars but it we go by the design of XUV Aero then Mahindra surely knows what it is doing.

Indian carmaker Mahindra has showed its potential by dabbling with the new concept and should be appreciated for it. No doubt this time Mahindra does it with perfection.

Exterior

It has a roofline dropping dramatically beyond the B-pillar, the tiny rear door flow into the tail lamp most perfectly. Pininfra has worked on the Aero and made it what it wanted it to be.

Interior

The dash is fully digital with a big tablet on the console. The tab performs all the infotainment duties and doubles up its role as a navigator and a reverse camera. Also the instrument cluster is totally digital showing speed and other revs.

Features

Beneath the tablet are the toggle switches for the 4 drives and suspension modes- race, off road, street and sport. Simple, uncomplicated and minimalistic.

Space

A highly down inclined roofline doesn’t mean an uncomfortable journey for the people sitting at the back. To access the rear side you need to swing the suicide door that is present only on the left side of the car. The concept has two individual seats at the back (could be turned into three thus allowing three people to sit). All this without any shortage of headroom. No third row means more leg room. Bingo!

Power

Aero possess the mHawk diesel engine with unspecified capacity. A 210 horsepower motor. A speed of 60 mph in less than 6 seconds. Thats quick!

Like the peer Mahindra cars that have been a hit end with an “O”, Aero follows the league. Being a concept car showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 Mahindra is about to start in production.
