A seven-seater Kwid is on the Renault Cards

Renault has certainly topped the charts in the past few years and has made the most of the SUV and hatchback season. But Renault has decided to take up a task which looks interesting. The company has planning to transform its hatchback Kwid into a 7-seater MPV.

The company plans to showcase the model in the 2018 Auto Expo Delhi.

It will be based on the CMF-A+ architecture, and will be an elongates version of the CMF-A (common module family) platform.

Gérard Detourbet, Managing Director of the Renault–Nissan Alliance, A-Segment development unit, has hinted that the 7-seater Kwid will be followed by another car on the same CMF-A+ platform over a period, which could possibly be developed by Nissan. But it is not known whether it will also be a seven-seater.

What we can read in between the line, we predict that the transformed car will be under 4 meters in length. Also, the car will be within the reach and will be very affordable for the India diaspora.

The Kwid has been one of the most successful cars of the company. The car has reached the two-lakh milestone in just 2 years. The Kwid is offered with engines options, it comes in 0.8 liters and 1 liter, both of them having three-cylinder petrol units.  The seven-seater Kwid will have a better engine size and thus will be able to deliver better power that is needed for an MPV. As far as the transmission is concerned, the 7-seater is expected to be equipped with a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox, like the Kwid 1.0.

The car is expected to be launched in the coming year.
