A No-show for these Automakers this time!

The Indian Automotive industry is the fifth largest in the World and is growing at a very fast pace. This very fact has been proved time and again by all major automakers, by unveiling and showcasing their top products at the India’s biggest auto event- The Auto Expo which will be held in February month of 2018.

The Auto Expo has immense footfall of car and bike enthusiasts from around the World and is a great platform to unveil new products as well as showcase new technology offerings in the pipeline by Automakers.

However, this year, major automakers like Volkswagen, Ford, Volvo or Harley Davidson are among the many which are not showcasing at the country’s best auto event. Among these are, 7 of the top 15 car makers in India, 2 major truck makers and two global two-wheeler companies.

There are many reasons for this miss, however, the major reasons being, high levels of investment from automakers, no new major offerings except 3-4 automakers to showcase at the event, expensive property rates of the venue and internet snatching the secret element about the showcase.

All that can be said is that, an average of 30-50 crore of investment is needed to participate in the show, but according to the no-show automakers, this investment doesn’t generate a good coverage of their brands and doesn’t reach out to their desired audience. This is particularly true for the commercial and two-wheeler segments as it is majorly a car show.

All in all, many companies missing out on the show is turning out to be a big disappointment for the Indian auto industry.
