Nissan has not been bringing a new mid segment offering since the last Nissan Terrano that played out in the October 2013. Last year, Nissan’s main focus was on the beautiful speedy beast - the Nissan GTR. However, the news is that the company is now planning to launch its SUV Kicks on the Indian Roads.
The upcoming Nissan Car, the Kicks, is based on the Renault’s MO platform that also has the Renault Duster used on it. The Terrano is not really doing well in the Indian market, despite the SUV boom that the country has seen lately. The company therefore may plan to stop selling the Terrano and replace the offering with the new Kicks.
With the new Kicks, the company is also planning to launch a host of new cars, which will be a global offering, but it is believed that these cars will have an Indian orientation.
Although technical details have not been revealed for now, reports indicate that a 1.5-litre engine in petrol as well as diesel engine options might power the new model. On the design aspect, the Kicks SUV is expected to get the modern Renault style elements in the form of a sloping roof design, roof rails and faux bash plates.
The interiors are suspected to have a dual tone color. Also the car is planned to be backed with a good seven-inch infotainment system that has a smartphone connectivity, power steering and automatic climate control. Its price is expected to go up to Rs 20 Lakhs.
