Mahindra & Mahindra and Ford Motors had signed a MoU in September last year for a period of three years, in order to leverage each other’s technical and operational capabilities. This MoU was mainly signed to explore their joint work on EVs and their global distribution as well as will help Ford Motors to participate in lucrative EV orders from Central and State Governments with the help of this MoU. Ford and M&M will jointly produce the cheapest electric vehicle in India.
This MoU will also explore the joint collaboration between the companies to produce a SUV on a joint platform, but will be sold under individual branding and designing by the auto companies.
Ford Motors will be benefited by M&M hugely in producing an affordable EV in India mostly by next year which will be much quicker than the Indian market leader, Maruti Suzuki whose goal is to launch EVs by 2020.
Now, let’s just wait and watch as to how Ford Motors can increase its market share in India after its SUV launch as well as the much awaited EV launch jointly with Mahindra.
