Hyundai plans to unveil Alcazar on April 7

NEW DELHI: Hyundai India on Tuesday teased the interior sketches of the upcoming 7-seater SUV Alcazar.

Alcazar, which means a castle in Spanish, will make its global debut on April 7 and the launch is expected to be somewhere around June 2021. Alcazar will be positioned between Creta and Tucson in Hyundai's Indian portfolio.

On the inside, the design sketch flaunts a two-tone black and brown interior with two captain seats in the middle row. The Alcazar would be offering a 6- and 7-seater arrangement just like the other direct rivals in the segment. The steering wheel also looks quite sporty with a flat bottom. The centre console of the Alcazar looks strikingly similar to the one that the Creta sports. Some prominent details in the sketches include redesigned AC vents, a cup holder in the second row, and the AC vent and storage space in the 3rd-row.

In the teased design sketches, the Alcazar’s silhouette looks quite similar to the 2nd-gen Creta, especially the elegantly curving front-end, elevated hood and sharp shoulder lines. The elongated roofline and slightly bigger rear doors are new to serve the purpose. The Alcazar has an upright stance and some details like the C-shaped taillamps, new rear bumper, possibly a chrome skid-plate, give the 7-seater SUV a distinctive image of its own.

Alcazar will take on the likes of Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and the upcoming Mahindra XUV500 in the Indian market. Based on the same platform as the Creta, the Alcazar is expected to boast the same 3 engines – 1.4-litre turbo-petrol, 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre diesel – as its 5-seater sibling.
