In Panchkula Punjab,The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, Ordered Honda showroom in Panchkula to pay penalty of Rs 5,000 to one of its customers for charging Rs 479 extra from him as registration charges.
A complainant Smajpal Singh, a resident of Sonkra village, Karnal. filed a case, In his complaint to the cops, Singh said that on November 21, 2017,he purchased a Honda two wheeler Activa, from the authorized dealer of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd, Joshi Auto Scans Pvt Ltd, Sector 8, Panchkula.Joshi is also a dealer for many car companies
At the time of purchase of the said vehicle, he had paid the price of the scooter along with the registration amount. Singh as paid Rs 300 as registration fee, Rs150 as temporary registration fee, Rs 30 as postal fee Rs 200 as smart card fee and Rs 2,050 as MV Tax.
He had to pay a total of Rs 2,730 but the authorized agency charged Rs 3,209. He paid Rs 479 in excess.
The forum asked Honda authorities to appear before the forum. The representatives of Honda contested the claim to be wrong and said they have overcharged Singh under the garb of registration charges. There is no deficiency in service on their part, they claimed.
