New Delhi: Before the festive season begins all the automakers planning to attract more customers in different ways, different schemes, new product launches are key to success, especially in the crowded but highly potential SUV market. Inspired by the same thought Chinese MG Motors has also unveiled its next SUV in India Gloster, in an online event.

MG claims that the Gloster is India’s first autonomous Level-1 premium SUV. It gets Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Front Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Auto Park Assist.

According to MG, Gloster gets a 2.0-liter turbo engine, which delivers 218 PS of power and 480 Nm torque. It stands almost 5 m long and 1.9 m tall.

Other features in the new SUV include 64-colour ambient lighting, 12.3 HD touch screen, 12 speakers, 8-inch instrument cluster, driver seat massage, diamond-style-stitching seats and LED cabin lights, three-zone climate control, 12-way adjustable driver seat electronic with memory function, captain seats, panoramic sunroof, fatigue reminder system, ventilated front seats (heated only) and iSmart 2.0.

MG iSmart technology offers Critical Tyre Pressure Voice Alert, Shortpedia App that gives short news summaries, and Anti-Theft Immobilization via Smartphone that remotely halts the engine ignition. It comes with 3D maps from MapMyIndia which includes COVID testing centre locations in maps apart from various alerts like potholes and speed alerts.

"Gloster customers will also get Apple Watch Connectivity and can operate their Gaana app with voice control, alongside personalized welcome and greeting messages," said the company.

The MG SUV in India will also come with an on-demand four-wheel drive (4WD) system with a BorgWarner transfer case and a separate rear differential lock button. It gets six driving modes - Snow, Mud, Sand, Rock, Eco and Sport.

First showcased at the Auto Expo 2020, the SUV will come in four colours – Agate Red, Metal Black, Metal Ash and Warm White.

To be launched in the market in October this year, the company has opened bookings for the new SUV on September 24 at INR 1 lakh. It will be pitted against Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Mahindra Alturas G4 in the Indian market with a premium over these SUVs. Gloster is the first super SUV from MG and the third product launch in the Indian market.
