An All Electric Scorpio by 2019

The development of the electric auto industry in India is at its brim. With the stakeholders - the auto companies, technological companies and the government trying the various algorithms that would lead to a successful implementation of an all-electric nation by 2030.

With companies planning to set up battery production units in India and the government along with the fuel companies to take charge of the charging station, change is not far.

Another good news, especially for the Mahindra lovers is that the company plans to launch its all-electric Scorpio in the coming year. Scorpio is one of the best selling SUV’s in India and at a time with it is already raining SUVs, an electric SUV will be a bumper.

Mahindra was the first company in India to make the electric move. With the continuous developments overtime the company is not only updating its technology but also partnering up with leading electric players both domestic as well as global.

With the rapid change and shift in the industry the automaker is also making substantial investments in order to being out more competitive products and maintain a lead in the electric vehicle market which is going to boom very soon. The automaker will also invest a sum of Rs 4,000 crore in next 3-5 years. Out of the Rs 4000-crore, the company has already invested close to Rs 500 crore in the business.


The company has already announced the launch of an electric KUV100 by the next year. Currently, the carmaker has three electric models -- E2o Plus, Verito Electric and Supro Electric.
